Be sure to back up both your OS X files and Windows files before attempting this procedure.
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Click the Partition tab.
Look for an extra partition I followed steps elsewhere to remove and reformat the partition to ExFAT then try and format again through the Windows installer, but this was unsuccessful. I had to reboot to singler-user mode and use the terminal command to the repair the disk.
