Does every interesting photograph have a story to tell? That's not going to work. yes checking for libitm support... yum install gcc should cure it (but to build gcc you'll need some other packages too, like gmp-devel, mpfr-devel etc.).
yes checking whether ln -s works... I really don't know where your problem is. So first install the command line tools then see the answer below by @sterescott and that should take care of your problems. You are probably missing that package.
So I thought that it could help also others, who are looking for solution to this problem. any help would be great as the compiler fails on anytime I try to use it, not just with this install.
